Lincoln Aviator: Engine Cooling - 3.0L EcoBoost / Removal and Installation - Coolant Outlet Connector

Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

Removal

  1. Remove the direct injection fuel rail LH.
    Refer to: Direct Injection Fuel Rail LH (303-04A Fuel Charging and Controls - 3.0L EcoBoost/3.0L EcoBoost – Hybrid (BQ), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the direct injection fuel rail RH.
    Refer to: Direct Injection Fuel Rail RH (303-04A Fuel Charging and Controls - 3.0L EcoBoost/3.0L EcoBoost – Hybrid (BQ), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the coolant pump.
    Refer to: Coolant Pump (303-03A Engine Cooling - 3.0L EcoBoost, Removal and Installation).
  1. Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Remove the knock sensor harness retainer from the fastener stud.
    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. Remove the fasteners and the coolant outlet connector and inlet pipe assembly.
  1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Separate the coolant inlet pipe from the coolant outlet connector. Inspect the grommet and replace if necessary.
  1. Inspect the coolant outlet connector gasket and replace if necessary.

Installation

    • Lubricate the inside and outside diameter of the grommet with clean engine coolant.
      Refer to: Specifications (303-03A Engine Cooling - 3.0L EcoBoost, Specifications).
    • Install the grommet.
  1. NOTE: Verify the locating tab is aligned to the coolant outlet connector.

    Connect the coolant inlet pipe.
  1. Place the coolant outlet connector and inlet pipe assembly into the intake valley. Verify the locator dowel is fully seated into the engine block.
  1. Install and tighten the fasteners.
    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
  1. Connect the coolant hoses and install the hose clamp. Connect the knock sensor harness retainer to the fastener stud.
    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. Install the coolant pump.
    Refer to: Coolant Pump (303-03A Engine Cooling - 3.0L EcoBoost, Removal and Installation).
  1. Install the direct injection fuel rail RH.
    Refer to: Direct Injection Fuel Rail RH (303-04A Fuel Charging and Controls - 3.0L EcoBoost/3.0L EcoBoost – Hybrid (BQ), Removal and Installation).
  1. Install the direct injection fuel rail LH.
    Refer to: Direct Injection Fuel Rail LH (303-04A Fuel Charging and Controls - 3.0L EcoBoost/3.0L EcoBoost – Hybrid (BQ), Removal and Installation).

    Fastening the Seatbelts

    The front outboard and rear safety restraints in the vehicle are combination lap and shoulder belts.

    Insert the belt tongue into the proper buckle (the buckle closest to the direction the tongue is coming from) until you hear a snap and feel it latch. Make sure that you securely fasten the tongue in the buckle.

    To unfasten, press the release button and remove the tongue from the buckle.
