Lincoln Aviator: Front Seats / Removal and Installation - Front Seat Cushion Extension Adjuster

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: Driver seat with power head restraint shown, other seats similar.

  1. Remove the front seat.
    Refer to: Front Seat (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the side shield screws.

  1. Remove the LH side shield.
    1. Lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    1. Slide the side shield forward and separate the side shield from the seat.

  1. Remove the RH side shield.
    1. Lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.
    1. Slide the side shield forward and separate the side shield from the seat.
  1. Remove the screws and the LH inner shield.
  1. Remove the screws and the RH inner shield.
  1. If equipped with climate control seats.
    Remove the front seat cushion blower motor.
    Refer to: Front Seat Cushion Blower Motor (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front seat cushion cover.
    Refer to: Front Seat Cushion Cover - Vehicles With: Multi-Contour Seats (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front seat cushion adjuster.
    Refer to: Front Seat Cushion Adjuster - Vehicles With: Multi-Contour Seats (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front seat backrest cover.
    Refer to: Front Seat Backrest Cover - Vehicles With: Multi-Contour Seats (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. On both sides.
    Remove the screws and lift the front seat valance.
  1. Remove the pin-type retainers and the front seat valance.
  1. Remove the DSM.
    Refer to: Driver Front Seat Module (DSM) (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Detach and disconnect the front seat cushion extension adjuster electrical connectors.
    • Remove the screws and position the front seat wiring harnesses aside.
    • Detach the front seat electrical connectors and position aside.
    • Detach the retainer and position the front seat wiring harnesses aside.
  1. On both sides.
    Remove the bolts.
    Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)
  1. Remove the screw and the front seat cushion extension adjuster front clamp.
  1. Remove the screws and position the front seat cushion extension adjuster rear clamps down.
  1. Lift the rear of the front seat cushion extension adjuster.
  1. Remove the front seat cushion extension adjuster.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
