Lincoln Aviator: Information and Entertainment System - General Information / Removal and Installation - Satellite Radio / Global Positioning System (GPS) Antenna Cable
Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
Instrument panel coaxial cable
-
Remove the instrument panel upper section.
Refer to: Instrument Panel Upper Section (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
-
Disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
Instrument panel to right hand (RH) rear body panel coaxial cable
-
Remove the RH front scuff trim plate.
Refer to: Front Scuff Plate Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Remove the RH lower B-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: B-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Remove the RH lower C-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: C-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Remove the RH loadspace trim panel.
Refer to: Loadspace Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
-
On vehicles equipped with satellite radio.
Disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
-
On vehicles not equipped with satellite radio.
Disconnect the coaxial cable connector.
Intermediate coaxial cable-vehicles without satellite radio
-
Remove the RH loadspace trim panel.
Refer to: Loadspace Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the coaxial cable connectors and remove the intermediate coaxial cable.
Right hand (RH) rear body panel to satellite radio / global positioning system (GPS) antenna coaxial cable

Remove the RH loadspace trim panel.
Refer to: Loadspace Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Lower the headliner.
Refer to: Headliner - Lowering (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
-
On vehicles equipped with satellite radio.
Disconnect the lower coaxial connector.

On vehicles not equipped with satellite radio.
Disconnect the lower coaxial connector.
-
Disconnect the satellite/GPS antenna coaxial connector.
Installation
Instrument panel coaxial cable
NOTE:
The original equipment satellite radio / global
positioning system (GPS) antenna coaxial cable antenna cable is part of
the wiring harness and cannot be removed. This procedure refers to
replacement of the cable only by overlaying the cable.

Cut the cable end off the coaxial cable.
-
NOTICE:
Use care to prevent damage to the wiring harness.
Cut the end off the coaxial cable.
-
Release the retaining tabs.
-
Remove the coaxial cable end from the connector shell.
-
Install the new coaxial cable.
-
Route the new audio unit antenna cable following the routing shown.

Secure the new audio unit antenna cable, as necessary, to prevent NVH concerns.

Install the cable end into the harness connector.
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Instrument panel to right hand (RH) rear body panel coaxial cable
NOTE:
The original equipment satellite radio / global
positioning system (GPS) antenna coaxial cable antenna cable is part of
the wiring harness and cannot be removed. This procedure refers to
replacement of the cable only by overlaying the cable.

NOTICE:
Use care to prevent damage to the wiring harness.
Cut the end off the coaxial cable.

Release the retaining tabs.

Remove the coaxial cable end from the connector shell.

Install the new cable end into the harness connector.

Cut the end off the coaxial cable.
-
Install the new coaxial cable.
-
Route the new audio unit antenna cable following the routing shown.

Secure the new audio unit antenna cable, as necessary, to prevent NVH concerns.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Intermediate coaxial cable-vehicles without satellite radio

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Right hand (RH) rear body panel to satellite radio / global positioning system (GPS) antenna coaxial cable
NOTE:
The original equipment satellite radio / global
positioning system (GPS) antenna coaxial cable antenna cable is part of
the wiring harness and cannot be removed. This procedure refers to
replacement of the cable only by overlaying the cable.

Cut the lower coaxial cable end.

Cut the satellite/GPS antenna coaxial cable end.
-
Install the new coaxial cable.
-
Route the new audio unit antenna cable following the routing shown.

Secure the new audio unit antenna cable, as necessary, to prevent NVH concerns.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Removal
Lower the headliner.
Refer to: Headliner - Lowering (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
Disconnect the antenna cable connector(s)...

Preliminary Inspection
Visually inspect the housing, seals, drive pinion stem for obvious signs of mechanical damage.
If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is
found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next
step
